A natural place to grow
Children learn through messy play, outdoor exploration, relationships and everyday moments. Our educated kaiako support children with care and respect, celebrate all their emotions and make room for uninterrupted play. Five separate rooms are tailored to children’s ages, stages and learning needs.
Five rooms for growing tamariki
Babies to Preschool
The koru Room
Our nursery for babies 0–16 months
Our specialist nursery for tamariki aged 0–16 months follows the Pikler approach: respectful relationships, tender care moments, naturally paced physical development, free movement and uninterrupted play.
The Kea Room
Young toddlers
Younger toddlers explore with all their senses and whole bodies. Calm, respectful time with kaiako helps them learn to play and interact alongside others, including in tuakana-teina relationships with older toddlers outdoors.
The Pukeko Room
Older toddlers
Older toddlers are supported through sensory exploration, growing independence and caring interactions that respect their changing temperaments. There is space to play outside, make choices and learn alongside others.
The Pīwaiwaka Room
Three-year-olds
For three-year-olds, empowering activities and experiences support learning indoors and outdoors, identity and a developing sense of place in the world. Pīwaiwaka tamariki share outdoor space and tuakana-teina partnerships with Rimu.
The Rimu Room
Preschool, 4–5 years
For four- and five-year-olds, Rimu is a large natural space for exploring, experimenting and creating understanding of the wider world. Experienced kaiako guide play while children learn to respect themselves, others and the environment—important foundations for school.
Our community garden
Tamariki and kaiako are kaitiaki of our community garden, a short walk behind the centre. Together they plant and harvest vegetables and fruit, learn how food grows and enjoy the delight of eating it.
